Apple iPhone 4, Meet China

Just around ten days ago, Apple has released their official press announcement on the iPhone 4 being available in China on September 25, or just four days ago.

Apple has informed us that the iPhone 4 will be selling in the Apple Store in Shanghai and Beijing. Also, it'll be available at China Unicom retail stores also.

If you're not aware, this is one major product release for them. I have several friends, or developers shall I say, in China who were getting their iPhone 4's from the UK or even the US. This will make it much easier for Chinese developers to get their hands on the iPhone 4 and with China's population being 1,324,655,000 (according to World Bank, World Development Indicators - 2008), that's quite a bit of iPhones even if 10% of the population buys one. And seriously, the iPhone is one of the most popular smartphones out there; people will want to buy it!

The 16GB model will sell for CNY4,999 (roughly $748) and CNY5,999 (roughly $897) for the 32GB model without a contract. That's a lot of money for a phone after doing those conversions. I was unable to look up how much it'll cost with a (two year) contact, but I'm sure it's somewhere online at this moment.

Also, on a side note, it's reported that China Unicom has sold over 100,000 iPhone 4s in only four days according to MacWorld. Congratulations, Apple! Now all you Chinese folks out there, take care of that iPhone 4!

You better start cranking out these iPhones faster, Apple! There's going to be a high demand for them in China (and most likely areas around them like Hong Kong) from now on!

Stalk me on social media! Any other way would just be creepy…
