iPhone OS 4.0 Features Explained

So today was the day when we here about what comes to iPhone OS 4.0. The big thing is, what will you really think about it with all these new features?

From all of the features above, here's my person run-down of what I think of them:

• Birthday Calendar
  • It's about time, Apple! When it comes to remembering everyone's birthdays, I can kind of forget them easily. For all of the people who I really don't talk to that often, I can sometimes forget their birthday. But lately, I have been fine with it because Facebook reminds me! I'm hoping we'll be able to sync up our calendar with Facebook someday.



• Create Playlists:
  • The only thing I can really say is, it's about time, Apple! Took you long enough!



• Persistant Wi-Fi
  • WHAT? I love the fact that my iPod touch is able to turn it's Wi-Fi on and off when it needs to. It saves a lot of power this way. I'm hoping it won't be forever persistant!



• Gift Apps
  • I'm assuming they're talking about doing it from the iPhone OS itself. That would be pretty handy I might say.



• Tag Hit In Search (I think that's what it says)
  • Interesting feature... so it wouldn't search by the name only then.



• 5X Digital Zoon
  • Again, it's one of those things, it's about time Apple! Hopefully it'll be with video too!



• Sync IMAP Notes
  • Yeah! The main reason why I don't use the notes feature in Mail on OS X is mainly because it doesn't work. I'm hoping this will fix it! Notes in e-mail is just that thing that's great to have because you can access your email from almost any device you pick up!



• CardDAV
  • Mmm, don't really care about this one. No wonder why it's small. :P



• Tap To Focus Video
  • The only thing I'm thinking is that I wonder how this will exactly work.



• Places In Photos
  • Now this is cool! I'm hoping it'll work on the Wi-Fi location system too!



• iPod Out
  • Ya' what? I wonder what they're trying to describe here.



• Home Screen Wallpaper
  • All I can say is finally! Yeah! Next it'll be "animated home screen wallpaper". :P



• Search SMS/MMS Messages
  • That is actually a great idea. Would be useful, if only I had an iPhone!



• File and Delete Mail Search Results
  • So I can take all my e-mails with "YouTube" or "Twitter" in it and delete 'em? That's handy! Great feature to add!



• Edit From Outbox (why is this so tiny?)
  • Seriously, what a great idea! I have always wanted to do this. I wonder why it's so tiny!



• Web Search Suggestions 
  • Please say this will be from Google and not Bing!.



• Choose Image Size in Mail Messages
  • Now this is a very big feature. Because of how expensive data costs can be when you go over that limit, the size of an image can not only make the image smaller, but also make the message send faster. One of those things that should of been there before.



• Bluetooth Keyboards
  • Finally! We can now (or at least try to) use our mobile device as a desktop!



• CallDav Invitations
  • Nah, won't need it. I wonder who'll actually use this.



• Larger fonts for Mail,SMS, and Alerts
  • Hopefully they mean that we'll be able to use larger fonts. I like the way it is now! :P



• Spell Check
  • Yeah! The spell checking system will be awesome!



• Recent Web Searches
  • Actually, this might be handy. Especially for a blogger like myself!

And those are all of the features, of which I can actually make out. Overall, the iPhone OS 4.0 is introducing a bunch of new features. And you know what, not all of them are on here! Like threaded mail!

So hopefully we'll be able to get more information about this new upgrade in the coming weeks! All of us here at Tech Cores for sure cannot wait to try it out!
