Facebook - More Privacy For You

Facebook Logo

In our previous Facebook blog post, we've talked about Facebook making some changes, especially on how people see your status updates. I noticed this not too long, and I would like to share my opinion with you guys and gals.

If you think about changing who can see your status update, this can help in a lot of different cases. It can make it so that your boss won't know your posting updates on the job, making sure your parents don't see it, or even hiding something from one of your best friends; it all can be useful in certain circumstances. In my case, I will not be using this privacy feature that much mainly because everyone I accept as a Facebook friend, I allow them to see any of my content on my profile. Yes, I don't go adding people to my Facebook who I really never talk to.

You're able to now choose to let your friends, friends of friends, friends and networks, and everyone to see your status update. But wait, there's more (I'm not trying to sound like an advertisement at all)! If you click on the customize button, you'll be able to let specific people see it. Not only can you select the people who you want to see it, you can also select the people who you don't want to see it. And for as an added bonus, you can even make it so that you only see it. This would be a great feature if you want to leave yourself a to-do note or something like that. I have done that already, and I have to say, I do like that feature. You can even make whatever you choose the default setting, so no matter what you post, it'll have that setting applied to it.

I really think this a feature that too many people are going to take advantage of. But for the people like me, I'm sure we'll find some fun uses of it. I can see this being used to deliver out business information too! This isn't just applied to your Facebook profile, it's everything! So if you own a business, you could give updates to certain people. What I would really like to see in this feature is the ability to add your own custom groups. So you can send a message to the admins, moderators, or even writers of a website. That would really make me even more impressed with this system. I think they can take this feature even further from what they already have!

Have you tried out this new privacy system yet? Just simply click the lock next to the share button, and you'll be on your way in no time posting your updates privately!
