HTC HD2 - A huge improvement!

HTC HD2

The HTC HD2 is the successor to HTC's Touch HD Windows Mobile smartphone. I'll be honest, I've been a Windows Mobile fanboy for years; this really makes me want to test out this very device. The HD2 has a lot of new renovations like the following:

  • It's the first Windows Mobile device to feature a huge 4.3-inch WVGA (800 x 480 pixels), multi-touchtouchscreen display! And yes, it's even multi-touch!
  • Tired of your cell phone lacking in quality photo's; not anymore! This smartphone features a whopping 5 megapixel camera to make sure you're getting the most out of your photos!
  • The HD2 has a new version of TouchFLO, it's now called HTC Sense, and I'll tell you, it's one amazing system.
  • A very thin (.43 inches) device!
  • You have lots of storage memory - 512mb of ROM and 448mb of RAM
  • A 1GHz Snapdragon Processor - make those webpages and e-mails load up faster!
  • A big 1230 mAH battery, to make sure you have the most out of your phone!
  • This is one of the first HTC Windows Mobile devices to have a LED flash built into the device; just to make those photos light up in the dark.
  • No proprietary connectors - the HTC HD2 now uses an Micro-USB - just so you don't have to lug a lot of cables when you're on business trips.
  • G-Sensor (tilting of the device), proximity sensor (so it know's when you're holding the phone up to your ear, and an Ambient light sensor (to know when to lighten/darken the screen according to the time of day).
  • GPS and even an digital compass
  • Intergrates all of the popular social networks right into the phone
  • And lots more!

You're probably wondering how much this is going to run you. It's for sure a pocket stuffer because of it's big size; it's also going to take a bit out of your pocketbook too. That is, about $800 USD. This isn't a phone you want to accidentally drop or get scratches on.

I'm personally real excited to see one of these phones in real life. The HTC HD2 is for sure a huge improvement to its successor. I really think HTC made a device that everyone will be saying, "that's such a slick device." You know what, it is. There's no wasted space on this device because the screen is taking up most of the device! I really want to see what HTC will have in the future, maybe even an Android phone that's just like the HD2 for the people who don't like Windows Mobile.

And for all you US folks out there, this phone will be coming to you in early 2010, but for the people living in Europe, you might want to check this phone out; it's truly a phone that's going to change a lot of things in the Windows Mobile smartphone industry. Taiwan and Asia folks will get this phone in the coming months.
