The Next iPhone is Roaming Around
It seems to be that Apple has started testing out their latest iPhone, the 3,1 model. An iPhone developer, Pandav, seems to have the information proving this astounding info. In their application analytics of one of their applications called iBART, which is a train station transportation guide for San Francisco, they were able to find this interesting discovery; why didn't anyone else find this first. Are Pandav the only ones who've found this so far?
Pandav uses PinchMedia for their application analytics, which allows the company to see just about everything about the device you may be using, whether it's an iPod Touch or an iPhone.
The identifier (model) that was reported was the "iPhone3,1", which was found in the iPhone's OS files around four months ago. Just to let all of you know, the identifier for the iPhone 3Gs (the latest iPhone to date) is, "iPhone2,1".
Who knows what this could be. It could be the rumored iPhone for the Verizon network, or it could be, something else.
I wonder if some really smart hacker changed their identifier to make it look like the new iPhone. In a technical standpoint, this is possible, but I wouldn't know how hard it would be. It's Apple; they typically store the kind of information in data files called kexts. I'm sure the iPhone OS is similar to Mac OS X, which uses kexts throughout the whole operating system. It could be possible even if it was built into the hardware; everything's possible, but it may take some time.
So what do you think this means? Do you think that it could be some person that's having a bit of fun with changing their statistical information to fool people, or could this be real? Personally, I think this could be the iPhone for the Verizon network. If we could just tell what network this iPhone was using when the statistical data was gathered...
