Twitter to allow you to hide verified account replies

According to reports, people will soon be able to choose whether they can see a person's tweets or see all of their replies too on the social network, Twitter. Or at least they'll be able to with verified accounts aka the ones owned by celebrities and companies.

Twitter has been making lots of changes in the last few months. Just last week the social network introduced expanded tweets, where they'll allow articles, videos and photos to show up in the body of a tweet. So if a user was to talk about a picture on Pinterest or read an article about Partypoker or the weather, it will appear in the tweet, rather than you needing to click before you can see it.

In terms of the new changes, currently if you want to see all of a celebrities @replies on Twitter, you have to scroll through their profile. Only the tweets directed at everyone can be seen by everyone. Twitter's director of product Michael Sippey has explained:

“When you visit a Twitter user’s profile, you may want to see his or her original tweets rather than their conversations. Then again, you may enjoy seeing the back-and-forth exchanges they have with other Twitter users. Now you can have it both ways.

He goes on to explain that verified accounts will have a default setting that enables you to see their time-line of tweets without replies. Then if you want to see tweets with @replies you can simply select 'All' which is situated above the tweet time-line on that profile page.

Technology experts think the move is part of a strategy by Twitter to encourage users to stay on the site for longer, therefore making it a valid destination to seek news and other content.

Stalk me on social media! Any other way would just be creepy…
