HP Now Owns Palm - What's the future of webOS?

Recently, Palm put their company up for sale, and their company was really standing there for a while.

Announced earlier today, HP has bought Palm for nearly one billion USD. That's for sure a lot of money, and I bet the owner of Palm is happy now.

But this article isn't about why they bought it or anything like that, it's about what's going to happen with their alleged webOS, which is running on their famous Palm Pre.

When it comes to the Palm Pre, I really do think that it's such a great operating system compared to others out there. In fact, it has a very unique way of an application switcher.

But enough of that and on to the main part. What do you think is going to happen with webOS and maybe even HP's mobile devices right now? Will this put HP more into the phone world? If so, I can really see Microsoft loosing out on this one because all of their mobile devices as of right now run Windows Mobile. By HP buying Palm out, they also adopt their webOS.

So I wonder in the long run what's HP going to do with Palm's webOS. Are they going to put it on their mobile devices right away, or are they going to take all of that source code and make their own new and improved webOS?

What do you think HP will do and how do you think this will help their future of HP's mobile devices? To me, to be honest, I think HP will become on of the major phone carriers like HTC. If HP can do that, I think they might have the chance of entering the mobile market in a large manor. They have the excellant software to do it and even the money; we'll have to wait and see what HP will do!

Please post your comments below on what you think they'll do!
